Get answers to commonly asked questions about video calls in the Learning Center. This list will be updated regularly.
What are the minimum requirements for participating in a video call?
We also strongly recommend the following for the best experience:
Do I need a Learning Center account to join video calls?
Yes, calls are part of course classrooms or communications. No other account is required.
Is there a dial-in number for video calls in the Learning Center?
No, the video calls run natively in Chrome or Firefox. No dial in number is required, and mobile devices can be used although it is not advised.
Is there an app for mobile devices?
No, video calls in the Learning Center are completely browser based (Chrome or Firefox). We highly recommend a laptop or computer for the best experience in the call, but mobile devices can be used.
I'm having trouble with my audio or video connection. What do I do?
Ensure you're using either Chrome or Firefox as your browser and then see our troubleshooting guide for details on how to deal with issues during your meeting.
My instructor made me a presenter, but I can't do anything. What do I do?
Click the "+" icon and choose "Take Presenter" from the pop-up menu.
I can't seem to join breakout rooms. What do I do?
This is usually caused by a pop up blocker in your browser or another program. Breakout rooms are launched in a new tab, and they may get blocked. Allowing https://learning.ussoccer.com to open pop ups should solve the issue.
I'm in a breakout room, but I need to go back to the main room. What do I do?
Breakout rooms are launched in a separate tab. Simply click back to the main call tab, and you'll be able to use the public chat or referred to shared notes.
I missed an event or an ad-hoc video call. How do I view the recording?
See our guide on viewing video call recordings for more information.
Who can schedule video calls or start them from the communications tab?
Only assigned instructors and admins can add events with video calls to the calendar, or start an ad-hoc call from the course wide chat. Anyone in a small group communication can start an ad-hoc call at anytime.
I scheduled a meeting, but one of the other instructors is running it. Will that work?
Yes, by default all instructors / admins are added to video call rooms as moderators regardless of who actually created the calendar event.
I have a guest speaker joining my video call, how do I get them access?
When you start your meeting, a link for sharing with external users will be posted automatically in the chat.
How do I create / manage breakout rooms on my call?
See our article on managing breakout rooms for videos and step by step instructions.
Can candidates still communicate with me when they're in breakout rooms?
Yes. Breakout rooms are launched in a separate tab. They will simply click back to the main call tab where they'll have access to the public chat, shared notes, and more.
How do I make sure my candidates have the right instructions for breakout rooms?
Upload your presentation before the meeting starts, and ensure the slide with the instructions is being displayed when you create / launch the breakout rooms. It will follow them to their room and display there.
Can my candidates in breakout rooms share their screen or use the other tools in the meeting room?
Yes. By default, candidates are all put into breakout rooms as moderators. They have full control over their breakout, including screen sharing and more.
If i'm sharing a screen when the breakout rooms start, will candidates still see that in the break out room?
No, screen sharing is specific to the room in which it was started. In order for your candidates to see anything in the breakout room, your presentation should be uploaded and on the slide you want them to reference when the break out rooms launch.
Are breakout rooms part of the video call recording?
No.
I recorded my video call, but I don't see the buttons to view the playback yet. What do I do?
Once the meeting has been ended, recordings are processed. Because our system combines the presentation, chat, shared notes, and polls into a single interface that process can take time. The longer the recording, the longer it will take to create and display that button.
Can I download the video call recording?
No.
I uploaded my presentation but it's not working right. What do I do?
Uploaded presentations are converted to PDF. This means that:
You can see our guide on managing presentations for more information and videos.
